I am Alex Mottier
French born to a Spanish family and living in the UK, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, Jewish raised catholic, I dwell in liminal spaces. I am the odd one out, the weirdo, the freak, the bizarre.
I paint small figurative portraits of strange creatures – liminal beings like myself – using mostly oil, acrylic, or watercolours.
My creations have been loyal companions throughout years of bullying, doubt, precarious circumstances, and chronic pain. I am now sharing those weird, dark, surreal images in order to give a voice to others like me, and touch the heart of those who aren’t.
